We decided last night, since the town here is pretty packed, to find something off the beaten touristy path to go see.  We chose the La Sal Mountain Loop Road.  These are the beautiful, snow-covered mountains that we watched the whole way here yesterday.  Finally figured out the names of them & were fortunate to see they have a 60mi loop around them that takes you through, up & over, etc.

LOL – wrong!  The town is a lot more full this time of year than we expected & all the roads are covered.  Today was no exception.  No biggie, it’s still just as pretty & we are fully enjoying ourselves.

This morning we got ready & ran over to the famous Jailhouse Cafe for breakfast.  Then we headed on north to U-128 to start the Loop.  Cruised along the Colorado River for about 10mi then you start climbing into the Manti-La Sal National Forest.

Caught a Spotted Towhee which was very cool!  Another birding first for me.

For dinner tonight we decided to let someone bring it to us 🙂  So Paradox Pizza it was!   It was very good.

Then we settled in for a little TV.  I must say it has been nice that the last two places we’ve stayed had cable TV & we never had to set up our satellite 🙂  But here, they even have Discovery & Animal Planet on their lineup which made me very happy.

We have decided that tomorrow will explore Arches National Park.

Seems we are down to the wire again.  At least it feels like it!  Two more sleeps & we are off to Fruita.  Can’t wait to get settled in there & explore the Colorado National Monument.

We are also contemplating, based on the forecasts for the rest of the week, whether we will actually stay our originally planned 4 nights in Fruita or move on to Gunnison a day early to get settled in before it snows again.   We shall see!
