Scenery Time

Well the rest of the windy, rainy, snowy forecast seems to have passed us by last night.  The winds jumped up here & there but only for a few minutes & it really turned out to be a nice evening last night.

George ran out early to catch our first real sunrise here.  I was barely awake when it happened.  Actually I have been sleeping quite well for the past week & almost wonder why 🙂

Today we made plans to go take the 17mi Scenic Drive through these massive sandstone structures on the valley floor.  Simply stunning are almost all the words you can find.

At at The View restaurant Visitor’s Center.  I had a great Navajo taco while George went with the Green Chile Stew.  Really good food.

We had also noticed in our research last night that the theatre down the hill had 2 short films on the agenda about the valley & the Navajo people so we ran down there to get our culter on.   The first one was “Earth Spirit” was a 17min visual journey through the creation of Monument Valley, with traditional Navajo poetry, inspirational music & amazing photography.  The second “Among The Monuments” was a 23min documentary providing insight into the geography, history, and culture of Monument Valley.

In between films we ran back down the hill to the Food Court a/k/a gas station & got us two fried chicken dinners. Pulled off into the big parking lot and enjoyed the view of the valley floor while chowing down on that chicken.
