What Weather We’re Having!

Been a crazy overnight.  The winds HOWLED ALL NIGHT!  And then, the local TV weatherman was right — our 10% chance of rain manifested itself during the overnight hours so at least the gale force dust blowing laid down. Thanks Mother Nature!  We have windows that have never been opened since we left AZ that have a 1/4″ of red dirt INSIDE our RV on the sills!  Even the ones that have been closed since we got here & the winds turned crazy on us – more red dirt!!

Our forecast for today is a high of 53, low of 32 with a 20% chance of snow showers overnight into Wednesday morning.  Guess we’re going to get to see it all this week.  LOL  But instead it decided stop briefly so it could start SNOWING!  Check out the short video I shot of it really coming down.  It did this, although nothing was sticking for more than 10min, for over an hour or two.  And more forecast tonight – as well as the winds picking up.  No biggie really, we’re ready & glad we decided to come on to Monument Valley instead of staying in Cameron for 3 nights.  We would have received the same weather with only 30A hookups.  For us, that is just not enough since we primarily use our electric heaters.

Since it started raining, then snowing, today we just lounged around the house again.  We are certainly enjoying the view from our site even if we’re not out playing around the area in the Jeep.  It was a perfect opportunity to start using up some of the awesome leftovers I made last week in our pressure cooker.  Today’s lunch was chili & it really hit the spot in this 40’ish degree weather.

Snowing Like Crazy Here!

Snowing Like Crazy Here!

Here is a really cool pic George got this morning when the weather let up & the sun came out just long enough to see the valley floor & the snow that dusted it overnight & this morning.

After The Snow Storm

After The Snow Storm

This afternoon the winds picked up again as forecast, George readied all of our stuff – filling our fresh water, disconnecting the hose & getting the heat lamps for the wet bays rigged up for the freezing temps arriving tonight.
